JUEL of Ontario recently awarded a Capital Region Juel franchise to a partnership of Ottawa Elite, Nepean Basketball, Ottawa Next Level, and the Eastern Ontario Basketball Committee.

The Capital Region Coaching Selection Committee is issuing a call for the selection of Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches for a Juel team and Juel Prep team.

All prospective coaches should fill out the Juel Coaching Application Form, which includes submitting their NCCP# and uploading a Coaching Bio that includes at least two references.

All coaches must have a valid Vulnerable Sector Check (a Level 3 Police Record Check) and Safe Sport Training. Head coaches must be NCCP Certified Train to Train by the end of the 2023-24 season.

Applications will be screened by the Coaching Selection Committee to establish a short list for interviews.

Selection criteria will include playing and coaching experience, certification, coaching philosophy, technical knowledge, practice planning, teaching and player development, game management, ability to work with others and meet time commitments, communication skills, and demonstrated True Sport principles to ensure fairness, excellence, inclusion, and fun.

Once a head coach for each team has been selected and accepted the position, he or she will work with the Selection Committee to select an assistant coach from the short list of applicants.

By submitting an application, prospective coaches provide consent for the Coaching Selection Committee to contact their references, check their NCCP transcript, and request submission of a Police Record Check.

The deadline for applications is no later than Sunday, July 30, 2023. Interviews will be scheduled thereafter.

Player registration will be available soon. Tryout are expected to be held on August 22 & 23 at Carleton University, details to be confirmed.
